Question Torsion Bar Removal Question - Help!!

HELP!! I am trying to install my 6" Fabtech lift on my 2k Scab and can not get my bars to budge. I have them completely unloaded and the adjuster bolts removed and the frame cross member unbolted to drop it but I can't figure out how to remove the keys or pull the bars from the lower arms.

Does the bar push through the a-arm or pull out from the rear? Can it go either way? Does it matter?

I have shot the crap out of the bar/arm joint with PB Blaster. Tapped the arm with a BFH and tried to use a 2 jaw puller to push the bar out the back of the arm to no avail. I even threw a torch on the a-arm and kept the bar cool with wet towels - again no luck.

Any suggestions? I am desperate to get this done and back on the road. Thanks in advance for any replies!

I also saw your post at FTW. Like Thermo suggested, try unbolting the crossmember.

This is a real common problem. You can do the entire kit with the bars in the control arms but you have to get the key off. Easiest way is to unbolt the crossmember and then air hammer on the key directly towards the rear of the truck and the key will separate from the bar which will free up your crossmember and away you go.

Use a air chisel and knock them toward the front of the truck. They should pop right out. It worked on my brothers truck
