Why are Super Crews bigger than my F150!?!

i've been working at a carwash for 5 years. I always check out every F150 that comes through. Super crews are Definitely bigger than my 98 F150, and its 4wd. Also, i'm thinking maybe 01-03 F150 extended cabs are also bigger looking than mine. I know alot of them roll through with 265/70/17's or something similiar, always 265's if stock. How come there are still bigger than my truck? i'm guessing not everyone of the trucks have their torsion bars cranked. Is it that "off road package" that makes them bigger?

just a question becuase i've been noticing it forever. will my torison bar cranking make the truck look the same as a supercrew?

John

As far as I know tire size and torsion bar settings are the only difference between any of the 97-03's. Also, if you want to make your truck look bigger, park it next to a GM. They look like 4x2's!!

I agree, although I don't think it's supercrews, but rather the FX4 package. They look like they sit higher than XLTs, but I don't know why, maybe it's an optical illusion. Could be just torsion bars, but the back end looks higher too.

You're seeing things Crank the torsion bars throw some 33's on there with nice rims.

The grass is always greener on the other side so you might want put some 44's on it

I think you mean "taller" correct? Not "bigger"

Cranking torsions

I have a 98 f-150 supercab off-road pkg. It did come stock with little 265 whatevers...I threw some 33's on there, and didn't have to do anything to the truck. It made it a little beefier, but a lift would be nice sometimes. Mine sits level so I don't want to crank the torsion bars...that only raises the front of the truck, and you only want to go about 2 in" at most which only will give you about 1 3/4 in. of lift at most in the front, and your ride quality stiffens up a bit. If you want a bigger look, get some beefy tires, at least 33 to 35, and a good 4 in. lift or more....Also I think that small rim and a lot of rumber make for a good look. I hate big *** rims....just me though!
