Really Bouncy

Hey guys,

I have an 03 2wd f150 that has 30,000 mi on it. I live in southern california and do a good amount of freeway driving. I have noticed that on the freeway it gets to be at certain points pretty bumpy like dump dump dump dump up and down up and down cause ther road has little bumps in it i guess. Now when I am in my dads car (lexus is350) or my moms hyundai santa fe I never seem to feel these bumps at these parts when the freeway gets more rough. When I am in those cars i and hit that part of the freeway i only notice it if i play attention to try to feel the bumps, but they are only noticable if you tryr to detect them. Now botht hose cars drive smoother than mine. Is this just because the truck suspension is a lot tighter and you can just feel a lot more or do my shocks need to be replaced for some reason earlier than normal.

People say if it feels like you are driving a boat then you need to change but i dont quite know if it is too bumpy or not. Also sometimes when i go over speedbumps i can hear a little noise from the suspension. Could this also be a sign?

Thanks, Andrew

sounds like you may need new shocks. My buddies 350 was doing that earlier this year and it was because his shocks were toast.

Is it possible that only after 30,000 miles I need new shocks? To me it seems likes it is just way too bouncy when I reach those freeway stretches that are like that. I don't go offroading, (i'd like to though once i get bigger tires and a lift). How much do new shocks run about?

I am also thinking about lifting my truck. If i got a suspension lift, that would normallyinclude new shocks. Why is it that fabtech only make 7 1/2" lifts for 2wd 03 f150's? If i wanna put some 35's on, how much do i need to lift my truck

shocks are supposed to be checked and/or changed at 20k I think, so it's possible yours are done for

Sounds like your shocks are worn out.
Also, the Fabtech 7.5 inch lift looks great with 35's.

I'm just wondering why they only make 7 1/2" for 2wd and 4x4 gets a 6"? also is there any way i can check to see for sure that my shcokcs are gone cause i dont want to spend the extra money for no reason. What is the average lifteime on oem shocks? on the old 03 model

It depends a lot on what kind of shocks they are. If they're the $20 ones from Autozone then they're probably gone by 30k. I buy the average $40 Ranchos and I replace them every 12k at the latest. I do a lot of off roading though so they wear out/break very quickly. Your best bet would be to just replace them.
