front end/steering loose?

hey guys, i developed a problem recently with something in the front end of my truck. 2003 F-150 4.6L V8 Flareside Supercab 4X4. when the wheels are turned, espescially to the right, and i step on the gas or the brake at low speeds there is a series of pulses, like clicking or thumping, that i can feel distinctly through the steering wheel, and faintly hear. something feels loose. if i go over a pothole or curb at really slow speeds and allow the suspension to compress and expand it makes a creaking noise too, and i don't know if this is related to anything. can someone point me in the right direction? things to check or look for? things just don't feel right or safe right now with the situation.

would those things be likely to fail after only 55,000km of city/highway driving (no offroad/abuse)?

Yes, I just had my idler arm and all 4 ball joints replaced at 58,000 miles.
