will gabriel adjustable air shocks work for the front of a 98 f150 2wd 4.2l ?? if so, that would be a cheap lift.

I wouldn't do it. To get any lift at all you will have to pump the air pressure way, way up. This will make your truck ride horribly. A better choice would be to install a set of 2 inch Daystar coilspring spacers.
