Exclamation major shock problem, almost died!

alright. so i was on my way home from work about 30 minutes ago. i was driving through a light that is on a slightly curved road, and its been raining. i didnt realize that there was a little bump right on the other side of the intersection. so i going about 35 on a wet curve, i hit the bump and got some air. as soon as i hit the ground i started sliding and i heard a loud pop noise. i did a 360 and kept sliding. some how i managed to stop about a foot away from a muddy ditch. i pulled of to check out the damage, and it looks like the left side of my truck is sagging in the rear. could i have busted a shock? everything else looks fine. im pretty sure they are the same shocks that came with the truck, btw is a '98. so do yall thinks its time to change them? and if so what kind should i get? i dont want to spend a fortune, but i want something better than stock.

Your shocks don't support the vehciles weight so that is not the problem. Take a look at your leaf springs, shackles, hangers, etc for something broken.

sounds like you may have broken a bolt on your rear suspension OR you may have bent something

The front shocks on my 2005 F350 went dry. The truck just bottomed out and bounced. My front shocks went dry not the rear. You could not have a coffee in the truck! I put Pro Comp MX6 shocks on the truck now and what a difference.

First, Wandell is right that shocks don't hold the weight of a vehicle so I'd look more closely at the springs and connecting hardware.

Second, your truck's shocks were bad at 10k miles, so you will notice a significant improvement to ride and control with new ones. Rancho has a promotion right now for buy three get one free. First, get the springs fixed.
