Question Any problems with lifts?

hey guys i have heard good things about RCD, CST, and FABTECH. i want a 6" lift or maybe 8. has anyone had any problems with their lift at all, as far as messing up the angles and basically just beating on the truck? i have a 2006 scab fx4 with stock 20's and a 2" AS leveling kit ight now. how big of tires could i fit with a 6 and how big with an 8? i was thinking toyo open country muds. i want the 20" mkw m 26 wheels, dont know what backspacing or width, but i want them to stick out about 1.5-2" thanks
nick

i havent ever hear a bad thing about any of those lifts and i sit on this site all day every day!!! hahaha you cant go wrong with a CST thats forsure! assuming your a 4x4 you can fit 35x12.5 or even a 13.5" wide tire on a 6", on a 8" lift you can fit 37x13.5... im running 36x15.5 on my CST rubbed alot when i first did put a 1" spacer in and it eliminated my problem. i would get an 8" you will always want to go bigger once you lift it, i already want to put a 3" body lift on and some 38's hahah.... WANDEL should tell you the backspacing you need for what you shoting for he is very smart when it comes to that.

Your OEM wheels have 5.5 inches of backspacing, so use that as a guide. The OEM 17's and 18's are 7.5 inches wide but I believe the OEM 20's are 8.5 inches wide. If this is correct, a 10 inch wide wheel with 5.5 inches of backspacing will stick out 1.5 inches farther than your OEM 20's.

i get 14-15 mpg on average.... its much better on the highway since the larger tire diameter, my rpm's are very low.

i know the two lifts your thinking about are two of the best by far!!! imo... im pretty sure i wont have any problems the lift is so solid, every bolt that came with the kit was grade 8... its insane how nice this lift is.... i think it should last longger than the motor!haha i honestly i cant see any future problems with this lift EVER!!! unless i creat a problem by jumping it!!! haha by the way CST only comes in an 8" for the 4x4's and a 7" for the 2wd's. i would get an 8" you will always want to go bigger!

i have 30k on my 6" lift. started the lift at 150k, got 186k now (yeah my maths incorrect). its a 97 too and the ONLY thing i had go wrong since the lift was wheel bearings up front... i didnt replace them when i bought the truck and then i stuck it in some silt/sandy beach up to the bumper. that was my bad.

aside from that, no big deals after 30k still on an older truck. ford's built the truck tough, fabtech designed the cradle lift right imo.

35" tires run good n close to stock ratio with 4.10's

4.56's run a little deeper, more like 3..73s

you dont have to really swap gears unless you do majority of town driving.
