torsion bars

Will I need special tools to release the tension on my torsion bars?

Is this a hard thing to?

Can some one explain the process of doing so?

I am wanting to change ball joints, and have been told that the torsion bars will have to be disengaged for lack of a better word.

Am I right to understand that you cannot buy upper ball joints but instead have to buy upper control arms, if so is the upper ball joint already attached to the upper control arm?

I have the proper tool set to change the ball joints but not to separate various parts, any help would be appreciated>
