I guess... This isn't that dificult to do. If you are thinking about doing it yourself, give it a shot. It took me 2 hours to install. So you can take that X their rate per hour.

Sounds like a pretty good price. I had my Ford dealer where I bought my truck do mine for $250, that was install and alignment though. I probably paid a bit more than I had to, but I've heard some bad stories of other places ripping the CV boots. That's asking for trouble if that happens. I figure, it my Ford dealer made that mistake, they replace it for free. Anyway, my install went fine and she sits nice and level.

$150 is a great price for around here for the install and yes it will be a lot more at any ford dealer. If you know your way around a wrench then you may want to think about doing it yourself, saves some bucks and you feel better getting it done on your own.

I am pretty mechanically inclined but I am afraid I don't have all the tools and I am concerned about ripping the CV boot or something worse. I will have to sleep on it. Any advice on the install (if I try to do it myself) would be helpful. Thanks for eveyone's help and advice.

Its not a bad install, second side flys after the first ones done, i would say get yourself a can of wd40 or liquid wrench, and spray up that ball joint al day long, and make sure its not and greased up, this will save you a TON of hassle. Get a ball joint seperator from advanced auto, they rent them out for free, and go for it, everyone says the 30mm bolt was hardest but i have to say it only took me a minute or so to get each one done, the ball joint was a bitch until i did the grease and then that shyt popped off, dont gett too worried if it doesnt at first, you may need to work at it, and just lift the boot a little before placing the ball joint seperator in and you should have no problem with the boots. I tore a very minimal hole in the first one i did because i was careless, and frusterated (it was about 4 am) but the second one i took my time and there was NO damage at all. All in all, with a friend you can get it done it 2 hours, just make sure you have all the tools with you from the start and its an easy install and you feel great about it, just make sure to get it aligned when you are done, good luck!
