FX4 v.s. 4X4

FX4 v.s. 4X4

the only difference is the fx4 has ranchero shocks right. and what are their pros and cons between fx4 and 4x4

The FX4 package has also turned into a complete trim package on the new trucks.

i have a 97 f150. so from hat i just read i can replace my oem shocks with ranchero ones it would be an FX4 accept for the FX4 decal on my bed.

Nope. Assuming you have the 4x4 Offraod package your truck would be better. The "Rancho" shocks are valved the same as the shocks that came on every 4x4 with the towing package. They are just painted white. Tenneco Automotive makes the OEM Motorcraft shocks and Rancho shocks. So the FX4 Ranchos are not the same as any aftermarket Rancho. They were valved to Ford's specs. They were just a marketing ploy by Ford.

i already have the 4x4 off road package and a towing package so basically it is an FX4 already assuming i have a limited slip rear axle. btw how i check that

With the rear end off the ground, and the tranny in neutral, spin one of the rear tires. If both tires spin together, you have limited slip. I believe it was included with the Off Road package along with skid plates.

Look at your axle code on the door post. If it has a letter and number It' ls, If It's two numbers It's open.
H9=3:55
B6=3:73
B5=4:10

i looked and it has a number and a letter H9 so i guess it is limited slip
