For those with lifts & leveling kits

If you have a 6" lift and kept your leveling kit did you have to go with a longer shock in the rear? Install shop is thinking I will need a longer shock then what the Fabtech kits come with if I keep my leveling kit up front. Just wondering what some of you guys may have done. Thanks

that doesnt make any sence why would you need a longer shock in the rear if you are lifting the front more. the back stays the same...... they are either idiots or just trying to get more money out of you.....

They're probably misinformed and actually meant the front shock which you won't need a longer one but you're also not supposed to combine a leveling kit with lift kit according to Fabtech. No way you'll need a longer rear shock even if you go with bigger blocks or add a leaf your rear shocks will still be fine.

Thanks for the replies. I will be going back down there in a couple weeks to actually get everything done and will confirm with the guy that the Fabtech shocks will work even if I add a bigger block & an AAL (which I plan to do).

wow wow wow!!! if you do a bigger block then comes with the kit and put an AAL on you may need a longer shock. or you wont get all the down travel that your leff spring has and you will and up having a really rough ride and eventually breaking those shocks. if you just do a AAL you would be fine or just a bigger block but not both.

wxscpo...sorry I haven't goten back with you with the brand name of the AAL. Anyway, you shouldn't need longer shocks. The ones that come with the kit can extend out 2-3 more inches with a AAL in the rear.

This is what the guy at the shop said. I am planning on going with a bigger block and an AAL so I can keep the leveling kit up front to ensure I can fit the 325/65r18 Nitto Terra Grapplers that I want. Although I did notice a 2WD truck on here running only a 6" lift and 365/60r20's which are a 35x13 tire and with apparently no rubbing issues. If I can get away with the lift only then I will uninstall the leveling kit, but go with a bigger block or an AAL to prevent the pre-runner look.

No problem, whenever you get the chance I am still interested to know. Thanks
