How do you do it?

This is for everyone who's on a tight budget. How the hell did you afford to get your lift? I've been looking around and have settled on everything I want to get, but looking at the cost, it's like being kicked in the nuts. I figured that if I was to save for a little less than a year I could buy everything flat out, but I don't want to wait. I also looked into loans, but I really don't want another payment. So how does everyone do it?

I own a spring shop and sell kits so it's pretty cheap for me but what a lot of people do here is buy the truck and the dealership will actually write me a check and then they put the payments into the vehicle loan so then you're paying out 4-5k over 5 years and not immediately out of your pocket. I know this doesn't help you now since you've already purchased your truck but it's what about 1/2 the peeps here do and the rest just pay outright. I don't ask how but just take the money. I do notice that during tax return time I sell and install the most lift kits, tires and wheels over any other time of year

Yeah, I was hoping to do it with tax money, but lucky me, I fell into the next higher bracket this year and only got back a 10th of my previous return. I'm just wondering how bad of an idea a loan is. That seems to be the way I will go, I just want to make sure before I jump into it.

I thought about a loan but the interest was just to much for the expensive lift. I just collected a lot of cans, and I mean ALOT

I agree that waiting untill you have the money is the option to take. My parents always say that it is better to spend no money, than money that is not yours. Even though a car payment or house payment is normal, a lift is not needed (look I don't mean to sound like a parent but I just heard this the other day from my parents) lol. anyhoo whatever you wan't to do is up to you...but at the end of the day I bet you would feel better if you just saved up for a bit THEN bought the lift/tires/rims etc.

Do like im doing i have a project im starting with body lift and new tires on stock rims, then im working on a suspention lift and new rims and tires, as budget allows, doing it in phases. iI know doing it this way isint the most bad *** thing you can do but at least you can have something to look at as youre working to your goal, without borrowing money or breaking the bank!!

Cheers Mate

I decided to sell my body to finance my lift kit.... Needless to say, I'm still at stock height.

i would just start with a leveling kit, wheels and tires, and a year from now buy the kit and new tires because you can usually sell the old tires for a decent amount for no more miles than you would put on them in a year. I'm in the same boat as you i have a couple of credit cards that would buy me 3 or 4 lifts but i don't want the payment.

I looked into a leveling kit also, but decided not to go that route because I would just be ripping it off down the road anyways. I think I'm just going to save up some cash, and get back into school so I can get my VA money, and just put that all to it. So in about 4 month I should have the money and then some.

I have managed to put away a little each paycheck over the last year and am finally (almost) to the point where I can afford everything I want for my truck, well the lift and tires anyways. I keep finding more and more things I want to do (leather seat covers, programmer, etc..) that make me have to save up a little more. I want to be able to get it all at one time instead of one piece at a time. I'm a very impatient person so waiting like this has been one of the hardest things I have ever done.

I find myself asking the same question over and over in my head. So Im going to the next best thing haha, 3inch body lift and 35's. The poor mans lift baby!

Then one day when Im swimming in money I'll get a nice big suspension lift to add onto my body lift! But in that world I also have a lighting sitting my 4 car garage, just waiting to be taking out on those nice hot summer days.

hey a man can dream

I just figured that I would buy things piece by piece, but would buy things that I can use without the lift first. Not too much stuff, but a programmer, intake, and step bars top the list. Then when I get more cash saved up this summer, I can blow the rest of it on everything else.
