AutoSpring Install question

The truck is on the jackstands now....I have the strut back in place with the 2.5 spacer, and it was a stretch to get the lower strut mount back in place. (When the upper strut was tightened, the lower strut pointed out to the disc, by about an inch.)

Now, when I try to jack up the lower A-Arm, the whole truck goes up, and the strut is not compressing.

Anybody know why the strut wont compress?

I cant secure the upper ball joint or the sway bar connector.

Take the jack up until the truck starts to lift. Then take a large crow bar or anything long. place the end enderneath the upper control arm where it attaches to the truck, and have the midportion of the bar over the UPA near the ball joint, push down.. I've done 4 trucks now, works the best for me.

Let me restate.

I loosened the upper a-arm and it dropped-no problem.

But the jack under the lower a-arm will not move the a-arm up-it jacks the entire truck off the Jackstand, and the arm doesn't move

You must have something in a bind. It should go up, or you should be able to make the UCA go down with a prybar.

Ahh, your cv joint is binded up. It came out to far no it needs to slip back into its position. Lower the jack, shake it around, pull back and forth. Then put the jack in a different spot. Try again, shoud work.

Yeah,

I got it to go.

They sure dont look like they want to fit together.

I jacked it up, then bounced on the running board, and it came down some.

Then when I got the upper ball joint bolt threaded thru the mount by a few threads, I put the nut on and slowly cranked it back on the taper.

I would recommend taking off the brake line mount for some extra shimmy.

Also loosening the upper A-arm bolts helped to get that thing out of the way.

ANYBODY WHO IS READING THIS: THE AUTOSPRING INSTRUCTIONS TELL YOU WHAT TOOLS YOU NEED TO DO THE INSTALL.

WHAT IT DOESN'T SAY IS THAT THE SOCKETS NEEDED, HAVE TO BE DEEP WELL.

Later,
