Body Lift Questions
Body Lift Questions
I know many of you installed your body lifts yourself so I figured you'd be the people to ask. I have a 2002 4x4 and I'll be putting on a body lift as soon as I'm done regearing the truck, so probably in a month. I was reading the instructions for the PA lift online and it said that you have to cut the shift linkage and then weld on the extension. Does it really need to be welded or is there a way around that? Same question with the transfer case.
Right now I have my torsion bars cranked with 3" lift blocks in the back. After a body lift do you think I'll be able to fit 35x12.5s with no problems? I'm running 33x11.5s now and the sidewall of the tire is really close to hitting the upper control arm. I'm afraid that if I go wider it will rub.

Sounds like you were reading the instructions for a 88-98 Chevy. You don't have to weld in an extension on your truck because it has a cable. Also, you can fit 35's with a body lift and cranking up the torsion bars.

Alright sounds good. I'm pretty sure I was reading the correct instructions, but you never know. One more thing: how wide of a tire can I fit on my stock rims/fit in my wheel well?

Honestly, I havn't driven it much after the swap to 35's. I really havn't noticed a difference in performance other than I can't spin the 35's from a stop like I could the 33's. The wife hasn't complained any and she's driven it about 300 miles back and forth to work since going to 35's.
