2 alignments. Still pulls left!!
2 alignments. Still pulls left!!
98' 150 4x4.
Truck drove straight, but NEW tires were getting a little feathering on outside edges.
Shop told me they couldn't align it bc front end parts were shot.
I replaced more parts than I needed including both lower ball joints, inner and outter tie rod ends and the idler arm. Put it all back together and it drove straight.
Took it back to the shop to have it aligned. Got it back and it would drift to the left while driving on the highway. When braking it drives straight.
Took it back for the second time. They rechecked and said last alignment was a little off. Told me that one of the tires was to blame, but they didn't know which one. All tires are inflated to proper specs w/ in 1/2 PSI. Drives a little better, but still drifts dangerously to the left. What gives?
Could it really be one of the tires? Could they need more time to wear into the new alignment? I would rotate but both front and back were equally worn, so I thought I would drive a few hundred miles to see ifit got better. No luck still. Suggestions?

What size are tires ?
Hi
If you are sure the alignment is on, then depending on your tires, yes it could be them. Have all suspension components been checked ? If your tires are oversize, more chance its them. Brand and size of tires ??

Cross the two front tires. If the drift changes side you have your answer. FWIW I would not have an alignment done with worn tires. Your tires are starting to feather because they wore unevenly. Now that the alignment is set the uneven tires are making it pull. If the front swapping doesn't work bring the rear ones to the front.

They are BFG 265/70/17's. They are the same tire that would be stock on an F-250 w/ ORP. I replaced the GY RTS that were the same size.
I will rotate when my foot heals. It's broken!!
If the tires are screwing up the alignment, what should I do?

I ruined a set of BFG MTR KO's becasue of the alignment. I ended up running them till they were useless. I am using one as a spare for now.

look at your dots on the tires. some tires have them on both sides, but one side will have extra numbers, or the dot is differant like in a an oval or something, make sure their are all the same other wise u will have radial pull. when radial tires are made the belts are crossed in one direction like / on all 4 but if one is flipped so its \ it will pull. if that makes sense ha if not i will try to explain better just let me know
