Thoughts on body lift
Thoughts on body lift
I just installed a Warn 9,000 lb winch and Trans4mer grille guard. The winch alone weighs 90 lbs and the grille guard makes the total added weight 120+. The front end came down a bit. I already have 2" spacers on my coils. I want a few more inches in the front and perhaps an inch or two in the back as well. I have heard nothing but bad things about the SkyJacker 3" lift. I've seen a bunch of members on here with PA body lifts. I've never been a huge fan but I'm thinking now that it may be a nice choice for my application. What are your thoughts on body lifts? What are some possible concerns I should have or issues I may run into?
Well there are a couple options.
1) The grille guard is not going to line up right if you get a body lift without making brackets that raise it up 3". Having the winch on it could make that difficult.
2) Rancho Lift - 4", very well spoken of on here
3) Skyjacker Lift - 4 or 4.5", very good reviews
Other than not being able to have a grille guard line up right without thr brackets, i love my body lift.

The only issue I've had with the 3" SkyJacker was front shocks that blew out. They replaced them immediately, no questions asked. Other than that, the kit has done everything I expected it to do and more. I do see bad comments about the SkyJacker kits, but I haven't seen many by guys that are running the kit (one if my memory serves me).
I personally don't like body lifts - I've used several over the years. Other than the obvious bumper/grill guard alignment issues, they tend to create a higher center of gravity with no real advantages. The replacement springs are a higher rate than stock, so the extra weight has little effect - I run a 9000# MileMarker in a receiver mount and notice little if any change when it's installed.
