Question difference between 2 and 4wd

I currently own a 2005 2wd f150. I have a set of 35's to put on it but need to make up my mind on how to lift. I am to cheap/poor to buy a lift kit but have read many articles on how with a 2.5 inch leveling kit you can fit 35 on a 4x4. I have read and I take it that the only different between the coilovers is the coil itself. I believe that the coil is 2 inches taller where the strut assembly is the same 2 or wheel drive. I may be wrong though? What would prevent me from aquiring 4wd coils and adding a 2.5 coil spacer to lift my truck 5.5 inches. I am assumbing that the rack and pinion is the same 2 and 4wd. Im my ideal fesiable or would I not be able to turn. Would any issues arise by my master plan to lift my truck. Also the leafs from a 2wd and 4x4 are the same, correct. I understand that the 4x4 have a block but would a 4 inch add a leaf from a 4x4 leaf fit on to my 2wd leafs or would it be better just to aquire a three inch block? Thanks again for any question or comments even if it is just to call me a complete idiot.

I would rather not add a body lift except if it was a last resort. Any other opinion/suggestions

You might need to wear this.

This is a good questions and I too am interested. The type of suspension is very similar. Surely you could buy either 4wd coils or replacement 4wd coils and get the lift in the front. The rear is just a larger block.

You can only lift a truck so far with spacers. On the new F-150's, 2.5 inches appears to be the limit. If you want to run 35's on your 4x2 without spending a ton of money, I'd suggest a 3 inch PA body lift and a 2.5 inch Autospring kit.

Haha I guess the title leaves a little to be desired. Does anyone have any insight on if i can put 4x4 coils and an add a leaf on 2wd struts. My friend has a 2006 f150 4x4 thats lifted 9 inches so I can get the coils and add a leaf and block all for free; it just seems that nobody knows if they are different. According to ford the 2 and 4x4 are 2.1 fifference in height not 3 inches as i previously presumed. Thanx again
