No More Body Lift For Me :(

4 wheel parts just called and said my body lift could not be completed. They said they had the interior and the bumpers off and all but one bed bolt out. He said they spent 4 hours on the bolt but could not get it out. They said it was most likely stripped from the factory, dont robots put them in pretty precisely? Anyways do you think they have any ground in charging me for the labor? They spend around 10 hours, but they have nothign to show for it.

Ouch.

Well, I would say they are full of crap by saying it was stripped from the factory. IF it was stripped, it should have just come out, right?

They likely had some new kid working for minimum wage who messed it up and now want to put it on you. You paid for a body lift to be INSTALLED, not attempted. Don't pay crap.

Those flat top bed bolts can spin in the hole. You can drill a hole on the edge all the way throught the bolt and into the bed. Then insert a drift punch into the hole which will also be in the bed too. Then you can loosen the nut. Install a new bolt and it will cover the small hole in the bed when your done.

Now if your lucky sometimes you can get vise grips to grab the outer edge.

Well they called back and said that they got the bolt out, after they put the whole thing back together. The manager gave it a shot and was the first one to realize that the bolt did not screw in, it slid in. It is kinda scary that a company with such a good reputation screwed up that big.

I hate to tell you, but 4Wheel Parts does not have that great of a reputation. They are just a huge chain. Some have great people working, some have idiots.

No offense, but I wouldn't go with a body lift ever. You're just setting yourself up for failure. The larger tires will wear your stock suspension components down way fast and you won't be gaining as much ground clearence as you could be. What tire size were you considering running, anyways after the body lift?

No offense, but I disagree. I've never had a problem associated with a body lift.

that is bull****.. he is in no way setting himself up for failure...dont listen to that stuff, body lift is completely fine.

and, they r screwing you..dont let if fly, paint pay anymore than what you agreed on... stripped bolt? even if stripped from factory (doubtful) it takes 2 mins to cut it off, or weld a new nut to it and take it off... 4 hours? wtf..

100% true on the commission part, but you can not beat the prices they have sometimes.

I guess the 4WP in Orlando is one of the better 4WP store because I don't have anything but good things to say about them. .
