Grease the Zerks

OK, I must be an idiot.

How in the heck do you grease the zerks on the lower ball joints after the suspension is put back together? The zerk faces straight up and the driveshafts are directly above it. I did a search, but couldnt find anything on the topic so I must be the only one having this problem.

Also, how often should I lube these puppies up? Thanks!

There is an adapter for grease guns that allow you to slide the tip onto the zerk sideways, they work great, you may have to search around to find one, not everyone carries them. I usually grease anything I can at the same time I do my oil changes.

1999 4x4 F150

It's a 1999. That sounds great about the sideways fitting - I will have to take a look at it. Thanks so much for the tips everyone!

Replace the zerk with a 90-degree fitting. They're available at almost any auto parts store. It's much easier to swap them before the ball joints are installed, but not impossible to do once in place.

That's why I search this topic. I've looked and I can't find any grease zerks/nipples. I own a 2005 f-150 supercab 4x4 5.4l
