Leveling Decision

Okay, after almost a year of fluctuating between body lifts, suspension lifts, leveling kits, leaving the truck alone, etc., I have finally made a final decision. (Keep in mind that my truck is 2WD).

I have decided to go with a 2" Leveling Kit with 285/70R17 Open Country Toyo A/Ts on stock wheels.

What do you guys think? Will this look good? Is the tire size proportional to the space available?

Thanks.

Thanks.

Will I need new upper control arms?

Also does anyone have any pictures of a 2WD with this level/tire combination? Andrzej77ff's is helpful, but I'd like to see one with the tires too.

Thanks.

You shouldn't need new upper control arms unless you go more than 2 inches. You may need camber bolts to get the alignment correct however.

Here you go....05 2wd, 2" level, 285/70/17 Toyo OC A/T's on stock wheels.

As she sits now. 2" level, 1.5" aal, 285's, 17x8 American Racing Crush (B).

Well thanks man that was helpfully specific. That's exactly what I wanted.

So are you satisfied with the level/tire choice? Is it a noticeable difference from the way your truck looked stock? Should I go with 295/70R17s or would those be too stuffed?

'ppreciate it. Oh, and thanks wandell you're always helpful.

I've been very satisfied with both. Been running the level for approx. 15,000 miles and the Toyo's for approx 13,000 miles. I would've gone with the Nitto 295's myself but at the time there was a 6+ month wait.

Big time difference in stock vs leveled w/ tires. The pic in my sig is leveled w/ stock tires, I don't have any pics of the stock truck.

Good luck on your desicion.

So the 285s look good under your truck? Why did you originally want 295s?

Sorry about all the questions. I'm just worried that the 285s will look too small, but 295s will be too stuffed. I'll probably end up going with the 285s but I just want to make sure they look proportional.

I originally wanted the 295's because I like the Nitto sidewall design. The tread patterns are nearly identical but the Nitto's sidewall to me, is better looking than the plain Toyo sidewall. So it was just for looks, :o .

The difference between the two sizes is very little; the 295's will be 10 milimeters wider and (I believe) 14 milimeters taller than the 285's. Either one will be proportional and look very nice.

Wow. That's really weird that you should mention that because I was torn between the nittos and the toyos because of the same reason. I chose the toyos because you could get the raised white letters and I like those. You can't get them on the terra grapplers.

Anyway, thanks a lot. You've been a great help.

Do the 2000 f150's take a leveling kit? I thought they had torsion bars.
