CV boot tears with 4" lifts????

I was told by one of the local shops that they stopped installing/selling 4" lifts because of the angle on the CV joint tearing the boot and causing problems. This was the first I heard of this, can anyone tell me if this is a problem. The shop recommended either a leveling spacer for my 06 4x4 or a 6" lift that won't cause the same problem. I like the 6" but worried about it making the truck sit to high, so was looking at a 4" until I heard this.

So thought I would ask you all here to give me your opinons.

Thanks

Hey HillBilly... Here's my CV/Axle angle with the 4.5" superlift kit. NO problem with any boot tearing at all. Angle remains at factory setting. You need to find another shop. BoB

I have the Rancho 4" on my 06 and my half shaft looks identical to BoB's. Who ever told you that is full of S@#t! or full of 6" lifts that they want to get rid of....if you want 4" get 4" dont worry

Thanks guys I knew I would get the correct answer here. Also thanks for the picture. To me the angle looked worse on the Chevy front end that was on display in the show room then it does with the 4" lift.

I think I'll still stick to the 4" and probably 33's. The local shop can sale the Pro Comp 6" to someone else. I think they sale a lot of them and they are probably used to putting them on and it's easier maybe. Not sure.

Thanks again and have a safe and happy Holiday season :santa:

I agree. I've never heard of a problem with 4 inch lifts. People have reported problems with the 3 inch Skyjacker, but it doesn't have any drop down brackets. It's just a longer coilover shock.

Yeh me too Hillbilly, any shop that told you that is talking out of their a$$. That is the one reason I liked the 4" lifts-it put all the drive angles back where they should be. Rancho, Superlift and RCD all do the same-almost looks factory!

Thanks guys I'll do some more checking and one of the other members mentioned a shop I talked to last year at the car show. So I'll give them a call. If I wasn't to worried about tearing my truck a part I would do it myself.

My wife throw a twist at me last night. When we were looking at trucks I wanted the F250 but went with the F150. She says I seen a nice F250 today and I don't know why you didn't get it. I do, worried about damaging the diesel with my short commute to work and back. Might have to think about all these mods a little more

Thanks again for the great information.
