lift options

hi there f150 fanatics need help with lift options.i just bought a 06 fx4 4x4 supercrew and between a 4.5"superlift or a 3" skyjacker lift which is a better lift? what worries me about the superlift is that you have to make some mods,to the drive shaft, and the lower control arm frame mounts, would that void the warranty in any way.........

Hello FX4islander... I installed the SuperLift 4.5" Suspension kit on my 06 SuperCrew. The cross member mounts will need to have the corners rounded to allow for fitment of the NEW crossmember(only the rear crossmember needs rounding on the passenger side) the front differential top stock mounting bracket must be modified also but its not a major deal. The drive shaft needs to be reclocked per the directions. I performed this modification to my driveshaft and it cost me 15 dollars to have it balanced and re-booted.. The mod. is simple and other lifts recommend this as well but some members DID NOT perform this modification and have had NO problems. I am pleased with my lift. I have No squeaks or rattles. I am running 35" tires with no problems. My truck rides great. As far as the dealership and warranty goes... my dealership said, "If anything relating to my suspension or possibly my drivetrain, due to larger tires, fails and they can attribute the failure to my aftermarket modifications the warranty will not fix it" I was also told that, because I modified the suspension this DOES NOT cause a complete warranty rejection relating to other failures. I have taken my truck to the shop twice with the suspension on it for some minor issues. The suspension was never questioned and my truck was repaired under warranty.. No Cost.

Also two other members, Tripyn69 and Muddyape, just installed Rancho 4" Suspension kits and are very pleased with those kits. Their trucks look awesome and both members did the installation themselves. Look them up in the gallery.

As for the 3" Skyjacker kit... I only know what I have read about this kit. Do a search and read about it for yourself.

Good luck with whatever kit you decide to purchase... BoB

I know this wasn't one of your choices but don't play around, get the RCD 4.5" lift which can be upgraded to the full 6" easily.
