A few last things

It's getting close to Christmas and I'm trying to finalize my wishlist. At the top of my list is still a 6" Fabtech lift. This said, I run 305/65/18 (34x12) BFG AT tires with factory wheels. I'm still a little worried about the look I'm going to get with a 6" lift and this setup. I just spent a lot of money on the tires. Hindsight is 20/20 and if I could've done it again, I probably would've gotten different tires but it's too late now. What are some alternative methods of making my setup look good with a 6" lift? If i bought some new wheels with some backspacing, would that make the whole setup look more reasonable? I'm in a bit of a dilemma. I don't want to pull the trigger if I'm going to spend $1500+ on something that will look like crap. Also, my brother continues to try to steer me away from getting a lift. He says that my truck is going to drive like crap and that I am going to regret it. What kind of problems have any of you encountered with your lifts? Any help would be appreciated.

You need to hit your brother in the head with a large blunt object! Just kidding. I think if you go with a wider wheel you will be very happy with the look. I'd suggest an 18x9 inch wheel with 5.5 or 6 inches of backspacing. The wider wheel will make the tire look larger.

I agree, or perhaps go with a shorter 4" lift like Rancho or 4.5" Superlift.

When I'm looking at wheels online and checking the backspacing, does +6 mean that the wheel has 6 inches of backspacing? That means it sticks out further from the wheel well, right? Sorry, backspacing is one of the main things I just don't get.

The stock wheels have 5.5" inches of backspacing, so if you're looking at a 7.5" wide rim with 5.5" of backspacing, it would stick out the same as stock. If you're looking at a 9" wide rim with 5.5" of backspacing, it would stick out 1.5" further than stock.

If you were looking at a wheel that was 7.5" wide and had 4.5" of backspacing, then it woud stick out 1" further than stock. If you had a wheel that was 9" wide and had 4.5" of backspacing, the wheel would stick out 2.5" futher than stock? It's kind of hard to understand, I hope these examples help.

The numbers with a + or - are the offsets. There is a chart on the following link to figure out offsets, it will also help explain what I was saying above:
