New fabtech spindles arrived - damaged?

Well folks, my spindles came in and one has a ding - the pictures speak for themselves. I am debating sending them back and wanted some input.

Please let me know if the ding will effect anything and I can still use it or if I need to send them back.

Thanks

Send them back

I'd definitely send them back. Having done repairs to aircraft engine parts, that chip will create excessive stresses pinpointed to that area. It will eventually lead to stress cracks (if one is not already present) inside the granular structure of the metal. Usually these cracks are not even visible with the naked eye due to the fact they usually work there way out from the inside. (my technical 2 cents worth)

Simply put, send them back for replacements.

I appreciate the input, they are going back. I thought I was being overly cautious. If the ding were somewhere on the painted area I would go with it, but this looks a little sketchy to me.

I do think it is interesting that the vendor is telling me it is purely cosmetic and that I should debur it and put it on my truck...

That sucks... Looks like a bad casting pour to me. I wouldn't put them on for sure.
