I need some help on this.
I notice for '07, if you order an f150, 4x4, s-cab, w/8' box, (which I believe is a 163" wheelbase), your options for wheels is 1, a 17", 7 LUG, steel wheel.
Before 07, and in the new body style (04-06) wasn't there an option in that configuration with different GVW ratings where you could get 6 lug wheels with the lesser rating (8300# or sometning like that?) ?
Is there a place one could go to see past options and specs on previous year models?
Thanks

Sounds like you are looking at the 7700 lb package. It is only available with the odd 7 lug wheels. The same package was available on the 97-03 trucks but for the first few years it was called the F-250 Light Duty.
So... allow me to elaborate.
I am looking for a used 04-06 f150 s-cab 4x4 w/8' box.
Are they ALL going to have 7 lug steel wheels, or are they going to have a 5 or 6 lug wheel as standard, and a 7 lug only if it is a heavier duty package in those years and that configuration?
In other words, am I looking for something that doesn't exist if I'm looking for a f150, s-cab, 4x4, w/8'box with 5 or 6 lug wheels? The reason for my question is because I would like to put some aftermarket wheels on one of these trucks but in a 7 lug wheel there are very few options.
FYI, my '99 f150 s-cab, 4x4, 8' box has 5 lug wheels.

Only the trucks with the 7700 lb package are going to have the weird 7 lug wheels. The standard 04-07 F-150's are going to have the 6x135mm bolt pattern. You should not have a problem finding a Supercab 4x4 with and 8 foot bed.
Wandell,
Thanks for the clarification. I was VERY CLOSE to buying a truck online and just happened to ask about the # of lugs. Boy, I would have been pissed as the first thing I wanted to do was put wheels on it.
So, if heavy duty package is #7700, what is the standard package rating?
And where do you look to find that info on the truck?
Like I said, the Ford site lists the 7 lug steel wheel as the ONLY option when ordering a f150 4x4, s-cab, 8' box.
Do you know if in 04-06 they offered the lesser GVW in a 4x4, scab, 8' box that would have the 6 bolt pattern?
BTW, finding a 04-06, f150, 4x4, scab, 8' box, the right colors, the right options.....like looking for a needle an a needle stack
!
