Looking to get a lifted F150

Hi - I'm brand new here and hoping to purchase a lifted f150. I'm thinking about one in particular - the description emailed to me by the seller follows. I know almost nothing about lifted trucks - just that I like the way they look and would like to try some off-roading sometime (and I have the money to buy one :-)). Anyway I have a couple questions regarding this truck I'm looking at. I wasn't sure where to post the question - sorry if this is the wrong forum.
Based on the desciption:
1. Is this a 6" suspension lift and 6" body lift or a 9" suspension and 3" body? Is this a good lift for reliability and toughness (off roading).
2. He's asking $28,000. Is that a good price for this truck? It seems real high to me cause edmunds lists private party on this at around $18K but I don't know much about how much value this list of mods realistically adds to the truck.
Thanks so much for any info/advice!!

Description:
"...with a Factory Extended Warranty. For up to 75,000 miles...." "...This truck is a 2004 Ford F-150 Supercrew XLT 4x4, with 31,000 miles as of right now. "...Its a Pro comp lift with a spacer and shackle kit which is 9in and a 3in body for a total of 12! It has Super Swamper IROKS 39.5x 20s with Moto Metal 20x10 Chromed rims! This truck seriouly drives better than stock! Dont believe me go drive a stock one than drive mine! It also has a Factory installed Limited slip differential with 4:11 gears! The exhaust is flowmaster that is Nascar style with duel pipes in front of the right rear tire. It has a Stainless K&N cold air intake system and a
Superchip microtuner which is like $500! Now the Interior Is in perfect condtion too. Its grey cloth, with every option for the XLT. adjuastible pedals,

Sounds like a nice truck. The only thing I see that would turn me off is the fact it has 39 1/2 inch tall tires and the stock 4.11 gears. I'd want at least 4.88 gears with a tire that tall. What this means is the truck is going to be very slow because of the overall gearing.

maybe not, i mean i have stock 3.73's and my 37's and i have to say the truck still moves pretty darn good.

4:11s arent too bad of a gear for those tires. i think it makes it a nice highway cruiser. 39s seem like a tall tire to be puting on stock axles though.

if you get a look at the truck and see its clean and everything looks professional then go for it.

What are they asking so much for the truck? Has it been wheeled hard before? And he's inflating his prices on his mods, a Superchips tuner is no more than $400 if you're an idiot who cannot shop around.

Hey allrsdup, can you tell a big difference from stock tires to 37's, without re-gearing? Do you fell the truck doesn't pull good enough? Do you pull any weight? Do you plan on re-gearing in the future? Would exhaust and a tuner make up the power?

Let me know.

Thanks

ok well first, yes there was a drop off when i went to the 37's, u feel it right off the line more then anything but the truck is not a dog by any means. i do tow a trailer and 2 quads with gear occasionally up in the mountains and have no problem. now this being said im sure gears would make a large difference they would help any truck. i have exhaust and am getting an edge tuner for x mas so then i will decide if i will go with larger gears or not. my geus is that i probally will not unless i just have some extra money one day, its not bad now and wih the edge i think it will be fine.

I would not but this truck, you do want to do off-roading in it im guessing, first i woould hope some reinforcing has been done to the suspension, not just a lift, that is alot of weight on the spindle and snout ( the 39's and 20's) thats is another point, sounds like a pavement pounder big time.. and the 4.11 gears...with those tires and rims, ok if you were to run a 35in. tire and 16 or 17in. rim, 4.30 would take it back to stock ratio pretty much, i am going to be putting 4.88 in mine when i finish my rear suspension. granted it will be our pre-runner/chase truck, but still, also, personally i would be iffy about buying a modified truck i didnt modify, main reason is you dont know if it was installed correctly, abused, lots of things. If i were you, i would find a nice 2 or 4 wheel drive F150 ( go 2 wheel) that you could get for around 15-17G easy and take the rest and put on what you want and make sure its done right, you could get a Camburg perf. system, that would change the uppers to uni-***** equaling more wheel travel, and that comes with a beffed up spindle, (stronger for the tires and off-roading), get some nice shocks ( fox or king 2.0 or 2.5 smooth body to put in there ( completely rebuildable and valvable) and you would have a clean nice truck that is more than capable off road and still have $$$ for some perf. add on's

Thanks for all the input! I drove it yesterday and a stock 4x4 f150 and one with a 6" procomp and 37" tires. The one with the 12" lift actually did ride smoother and softer than the other two trucks which surprised me - perhaps because of the high profile of the 40" tires. Anyway the only thing that kind of worried me was an occasional clicking noise that would come from the steering wheel when I was turning at low speed. The owner said that is just the power steering under the load of turning very large tires at low speed and that it's normal and nothing to worry about... Anyway, the truck was very impressive for sure - I don't know about the 4.11 gears. He said that he hauls a boat no problem and I don't plan on ever hauling anything. Bud8817, I can't see where to upload a picture - only a way to provide a link.
