question about dropping the rear

I plan to have a very productive afternoon sometime on my 2001 screw, new shocks, ceramic pads, and remove 2" blocks in the rear to level out ( and twist torsion bar down a little in front if needed ) to have a better stance, now for the question...

I want to use the stock U bolts but it looks as if the threads dont go down enough and the nut on the U bolt will most likely be 50% on the thread and 50% off, I was wondering if it is possible to use the stock 4x4 U bolts or do I need to get 2wd U bolts? Thanks for any advice

I think you will need 2wd U bolts based on your described measurements

I'm going for 2wd U bolts, I went out and did a few re-measures and it looks like the nit will be off the thread more than 50%

you could also just use drop shackles there longer for are year trucks but i still think remove the block is best but im not sure if the bump stop is affected or not

hmm well honestly I dont know how a drop shackle works or what one looks like, I thought they were for 2wd only trucks. But the bumpstops should line up and be the same distance they are.

You will have a better ride as 4x4 w/o blocks compared to 4x4 w/ blocks w/ drop shackles. All tho i didnt notice a huge loss in ride quality with my shackles.
