Shock replacement. Can I do it?

Hi all, I need to replace my factory shocks @ 45K miles. I really don't want to pay someone else to do it. I did a quick search and didn't have any luck on the procedure. Can anyone steer me to a link to let me know the tools etc. so I can make the call? Thanks, Rick

It's pretty easy. Basically unbolt two bolts and replace.

Biggest problem on the 97-03 F150s is the upper rear mount. Pain in the butt to get to. If you have ratcheting closed end wrenches, it will make it easier. Also start spraying the upper bolts front and rear a day ahead. Those are the ones that cause most of th trouble. I believe the sizes you will need are 15 and 18MM, but don't hold me to that. You do not "need" to jack up the truck, but it will be easier to get the fronts done with the wheel off.
Put some anti-seize on the upper mounts of the new shocks for the future.

Thanks, I think I can handle that. I was thinking it might need special tools etc.

Later, Rick
