Question Front Driver Clicking

I have a 2001 f150 4x4 and about 2 months ago I noticed a loud clicking coming from the front driver's side wheel when I turn. I have had some brake trouble with this side because the idiots at the dealership stripped out a bolt on the caliper when they changed the brakes when I bought the truck....needless to day the bolt fell out and the caliper jammed against the wheel. However, I fixed that myself and got it going again, so I don't think that is it. I've taken the truck back to the same dealership and they said it was my hubcap on my wheel (they probably didn't even drive it). Anyways I took off the hubcap and no difference! Asked my grandpa he said it was probably U-Joints or CV Joints but i'm not sure. Anyone with help it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

hmm

I have a 03, it once had a loud popping sound in the front end when I would turn the wheels, mainly in a hard slow turn. Anyway, took it in...dealer was like "its good to go, no problems". We'll, we kept driving it, sometimes popping, sometimes not. Then one time on a trip my truck started getting kinda loose in turns on a highway. We pulled off, didnt notice anything wrong, put the truck in reverse, started backing up.....all of the sudden the damn thing screeched to a stop. I got out, the right front wheel was turned completely to the right...the steering wheel and the left wheel were straight! I mean COMPLETELY to the right too, it was disconnected from the steering!!!! The damn tie rod came apart. I guess the popping was the threads giving out. Anyway, we were lucky that crap didnt happen while we were rolling down the highway. I would check your tie rods.....it was like a thump/popping sound.

yeah you're lucky but my problem isn't like that and it can be heard at all speeds and at all angles of turning even a little when i'm going straight, however the steering has not been affected at all so I don't think that its the tie rod. Also, its more like a click than a pop or bump or whatever so anyone who can bring me out of the dark would be helpful.
Thanks

Probably not the case, but MAYBE it's a long shot. I had a clicking/clunking coming from my right side (passenger) and it was a blown hub. Good luck though

If the clicking noise is pretty fast going around corners it is likely CV's. I have had FWD cars that have had that problem and it is just a fast clicking noise. You can look at the CV and if the boot is torn and the grease is contaminated that is likely the cause. The clicking results from grooves being worn in the joint due to dirt getting in there. Just my $.02

Indeed, classic noise of a failing CV joint. New ones, last I saw, were $70 at any AutoZone with a lifetime warranty.
