i just purchased a new lift kit from rcd but i have no idea what a E40d transmission is? Is that a transmission with over drive?

 

the E4OD transmission was an electronically controlled transmission that was usually mated the the 5.8 lt motor in the older f150. I believe that the e40d replaced the aod which was not an electronically controlled transmission. the e4od was much stronger then the aod and I believe came in the 92-96 f150's The e40d has a button on the gear selector to turn off over drive where the aod overdrive had to eb turned off by the gear shifter

 

my 97 has the overdrive button 4.6L standard aod i think
