I keep hearing about ball joint damage, rubbing of UCA on coils. But it looks like anything you do to the new body style will affect the suspension geometry even putting on FX4 shock/coils unless there is something that lowers the UCA to keep it from getting a bad angle when the lift is installed.

You might want to do a search and look at the posts. Some hate them and claim hat they have destroyed their front suspension, ball joints, tie rod ends, cv joints, etc. Others love em. Like the prior poster stated, it appears that anything you do to the front end to raise it will change the stock angles and potentially cause problems. The only thing is there are really not many choices in the way of aftermarket parts that will raise the front end without changing the geometry. If you are willing to go to a 4" or 6" lift, then there are some kits that are supposed to give you a lift and correct all the things that are thrown out of whack by lifting. You will pay some bucks for such a lift. You may get $2,500 to $3,500 in a true lift kit, plus tires and rims. When you compare that to the cost of a $200.00 leveling kit, it may still be cheaper even if you suffer some suspension damage. Then there is the other concern, safety. I have seen some posts which raise the concern of what if some of your suspension parts break while your driving down the highway??? I have not actually seen a post that said, I put on a leveling kit and my tie rods broke while I was driving. But rather just what if???? You will have to decide. I am still trying to decide for my self. What I am really hoping for is that someone will come out with some aftermarket parts that allow for a 2 or 2-1/2 inch level without causing the geometry problems. I am still waiting. One piece of advice, obviously the less you raise the front end, the less damage you may be causing, ie, 1-1/2 is better than 2 and 2 is better than 2-1/2. Do some research and decide.

I had a con after 46K miles. I had a left side upper control arm balljoint failure. I just replaced both of them last weekend and only re-installed the lower 1/2 of my 2" Daystar lift. I am hoping that this will prevent anything from happening in the future but who knows.

I was under the impression that a 2WD lifted 2" would just be putting the suspension geometry into normal 4WD angles.

I have a 1" Daystar lift** for sale now and a used right side upper control arm for cheap if anyone is interested.....

I went ahead and replaced both sides (even though the right was OK) while I was into it since it is $50 for an alignment anyway.

FST Fox, I just looked at your thread. Your truck looks great!!!!!! I was wondering though, you said no rubbing. What about at full extension, like if the wheels are off the ground, does your UCA press into the side of the coil spring??? What about the angle of the upper ball joint? It was hard to tell from the photo, but is it close to its full limit of travel even before there is any action on the upper control arm????

All the pictures were taken with the wheels off the ground and truck supported in the middle of the K-member, I will try to take some more pictures of the trucks suspension loaded. But I couldn't be happier with the choice on the spacer I used, look above the coil over on the 1st picture and you will see the aluminum spacer between the coil over and mount

It's hard to see with the angle but this is full travel of the suspension and still generous room between the UCA and coil over

Thanks for the photos and the info FST Fox, Your lift was the 2" version of the ez-lift??? Your truck looks really great. I am going to look into the ez-lift. I have looked at several of the autosprings, even one installed by the Tuscany company, but they all looked like the UCA hit the springs. Yours apparently does not as you stated. I wish you good luck with yours and it looks great. I have a 2006 Lariat 4x4. in dark stone and beige. Your truck looks great in white and beige.

I spent about 2 days researching, send this guy an email and he will be more than happy to talk to you about his product, and the install couldn't have been any easier, and all it cost was 115.00 shipped and yes it was the 2 inch spacer, and thanks for all the compliments on the truck
