Is it worth it? Opinions please

I have a 2002 F-150 with a 5.4 and 50,000 miles on it? Is it worth putting $5000 into it on a 6" suspension lift/tires/wheels? Can it hold it? Should I wait and invest it on a newer truck? Opinions please?

i had an 02 4x2 reg cab with 75k on it and ran a 6" suspension, 3" body on 37" BFG M/Ts and ran it for about 20k and ended up being cut off and wrecking it :-(

but i think that your truck can handle it, you may wanna get some gears to help with gas mpg and engine performance

Why would you do all that to a 2wd truck

Because he wanted to. It's his truck and it looks awesome. Lifted 4x2's are one of the hottest trends in the automotive industry. Every major suspension manufacturer makes suspension lifts for 4x2's. There is a reason for that. A better question is why would someone ask the same questions 437 times when they keep receiving the same answers.

personally, i wouldn't do the lift. if you're even talking about the possibility of getting a new truck, don't waste your money. when you sell/trade your truck, you don't get the money you put into it, back. and generally speaking, people will skip over a modified vehicle for a stock vehicle. basically, you'd be kissing away that 5k you would be putting into it. if that amount of money wasn't a big deal to you, you wouldn't be asking whether you should do it or not.

do what you feel like, but keep the big picture in mind. spending 5k on a lift now and then trying to sell a big 6 or 7 year old truck in two years is not going to be the most fun experience. it's not exactly going to be the first truck people go to look at.

i'm all about lifting trucks and all, but not when it's already considered 'old' and a newer truck is in the future. it's totally different to buy a brand new truck and slap a lift on it and drive it for 6 years and then try to sell/trade it.....it's different to put a lift on a 5 year old truck and drive it for 2 years and sell it.

id invest in a new truck. you wont get that 5000 back if you decide to trade it in later on. plan to spend another 2000 if you want to be able to turn them meats and still have any decent MPGs. i lifted my last truck and dont think ill ever do it again. but thats just my opinion

what happen to the "final post before I purchase" post? You're still on the fence about what to do with your truck eh? Well, he's another opinion for ya.... 15K miles so far with my 6" suspension lift and I have no regrets. Good luck with what ever you decide man.

Hey guys, like I was told about a month ago relating to FORDWITFLOWS... If we do not answer him maybe he will stop asking the same questions (437 times as Wandell stated) over and over again. It's so annoying to see the same post's from this guy. He now says he ordered his 3" body lift(stated 8/24/06) but I still have not seen it installed.... I guess he will get the picture if we just STOP answering

Enough is enough!!! Just do it FORDWITFLOWS. Please

No offense man, but I've seen all of your 25 posts asking what YOU should do with YOUR truck.

Um, the reason people typically modify THEIR vehicles is because THEY think it will look or perform better a way that THEY envisioned. I would NEVER, EVER let other people decide my wheels, tires, lift, etc etc for me. the best part is doing the research yourself, seeing what other people have tried, and ultimately choosing for yourself what best suits YOUR tastes and preferences.

If you are this unsure of the whole thing, I'm going to bet you will be the type of guy who will be less than happy down the road when stuff starts breaking, the truck rides funky, or you have to replace those big expensive tires.

I would highly suggest you put the credit cards in the safe, and just hang around and do research for a few months before you do ANYTHING.

buyer's remorse on $3-5k worth of aftermarket parts isn't a good thing.

Gosh FordWitFlows... Can you NOT see what you are doing? Please place your order and post the PIC's of YOUR decision. I realize there are alot of different rims/tires to choose from but please "Just Do It" or stop with all the duplicate post. This is way past the funny mark... I, for one, am just plain tired of seeing your NEW threads on the same topic!!! Better yet find another site and ask them what they think.

You should have seen the first week he was on here. His posts just disappeared because the mods saw he was repeat posting. He still doesn't get it.

Why do people lift 4x4's and never drive them on anything other that pavement?? Because 2wd or 4wd lifted trucks look badass...
