If you plan on upgrading your shocks, get the Bilstein 5100 spring seat adjustable shocks and kill 2 birds with one stone (level and get new shocks at the same time). I have tried it all from the rancho to the autospring and the bils are your best bet for a level truck and a great ride, on and off road.

Last month I installed spacers that go between the body and the top of the strut tower. I bought them from a company called ReadyLift. It took about an hour to install plus a trip to the alignment shop. I didn't affect the ride at all and I was able to put 33" - works for me.

Are you saying that if you use the Bilstein 5100 springs, a autosprings like kit is not needed?

That is correct. You're getting the best of both worlds. I've been looking at this set up for months and I'm finally going to get it.

See here for more information:

Daystar is the third or fourth best. By the way, you can get the Bilstein's leveling shocks at http://www.shox.com

I know 2 people the have install this setup and if you need shocks and want to change the ride it'll work - if not then why spend the xtra $ and time?

Autospring is the most inexpensive level kit and easiest to install. JMHO.

ROCKY85, you must have read my mind. I ordered the Bilstein 5100 Preload Adjustable BE5-C298 with the compainion rear 5100 BE5-C299 (standard height) shocks this afternoon from Shok Shop. Mark the owner was the only person I spoke with who even knew what I was talking about. He is also one heck of a nice guy. They have been in business 25 yrs. I got the best price of all the searches I did and diden't even have to argue with the salesperson that this product existed. This was the only site I found that had the product was listed and priced. To be fair to the other sites this is a new product that has only been out for 2-3 months. Just happens Shok Shop is only a few miles away from Bilstean and Mark says they make a run over their almost daily. No one else I spoke with had them in stock. Said they wouldn't be available till mid September. While I was at it I had Mark send me one of Hellwigs rear sway bars. Mark was nice enough to help out on part of the bars shipping cost. Good people. I will post my impressions on the ride after I get this installed.

What is the ride quality like with the Bilstein 5100 preload adjustable? If I use the 2" of front adjustment will it make the ride stiffer. My truck already rides stiffer than any truck I have owned. I would hate to do anything to make it worse and in fact I would like to soften the ride a bit.

I recently went with the spacer kit despite the warnings. Actually I forgot to see if they had the shocks in stock at my local 4WPs store. I hope my suspension doesn't crumble.
