Leveling Kit Help

Hi. I have a 2000 F150 4X2 and I want to get something that will make it level while maintaining or improving stock ride and does not require new shocks. I don't want to spend too much and I will have it installed by a professional. Thanks for the help, Mac

Yeah I;m in a similar situation. I have a 99 4x4 Off Road and I'm thinking about the Nitto Terra Grapplers in 295/70R17. A couple of question have come to mind, however. First off, how much lift can I get in the front just by cranking up my torsion bars? And second, am I correct that I can go as much as the 2.5" leveling kit without replacing my upper control arms? Or can I do these tires without even adding a leveling kit? Any suggestions would be appreciated.--DIY

Bassmaster1061, you didn't say whether you want to level your truck by lift ing the front or lowering the rear. You can install a set of Daystar coil spring spacers to lift the front of you truck or you can install a set of lowering shackels to lower the rear.
DIYmechanic, you can usually get between 1 to 2 inches of lift by cranking up your torsion bars. It just depends on how much preload was put on them at the factory. Every truck seems to be a little different. If you keep your OEM 17x7.5 inch wide wheels you probably won't even have to crank up your torsion bars to fit 295/70-17's.

Thanks for the advice. Assuming I do go with a set of the re-indexed torsion bar keys, is 2 to 2.5" the max I can go without replacing more suspension components? They're selling pretty reasonambly on eBay right now.--DIY

Bassmaster1061, you may need an adjustable camber kit to get the alignment right. Some do, some don't. I think the adjustable camber bolts are around $50 at NAPA and other parts stores.
DIYmechanic, I would stay away fromt he aftermarket torsion bar keys. They allow you to put way too much preload on your torsion bars. THis will put your CV joints at a severe angle which leads to premature wear. Just crank up your torsion bars with your stock adjustment keys. If you want more lift, I'd suggest going with a full suspension lift or a body lift.

1st of all I would highly recommend not do the torsion twist my EX has a 2" tt and the ride is all to Hell to say the least. The front is EXTREMELY stiff!!! and has no bounce at all now and I fell everything i run over it's a very rough ride. but it's my off road toy so it dosen't really matter but I would not want my everyday truck like this...JMO by the way she has the 2"tt, 4 door leaf pack, 31" Kumhos, 15x8 procomp rock crusher wheels & rear anti sway bar removed If ya have a 4x2 I would look at lowering the rear to level her up...
