Rear Rancho shock question

I have the Rancho RSX shocks for my 1999 F-150. The front ones went on fine. The rear installation is a little more crowded on the top nut. Using a deep socket and ratchet wrench, there is not enough room to fit the socket on or even turn it. How do you guys do this?
Also, the rear Rancho's are tied end to end with a wire. Do you cut the wire off before or after installation?

that is to keep them compressed before installation.makes them smaller for shipping. to get the old ones out at work there is a bottom nut (at the top of the shock that u put a wrench on ... wana say 13 mm but not sure. the top we use an air ratchet and deep socket use the air and the muscle together.. their not fun.

The 13mm nut on top of the shock is very thin so you'll need a thin pattern wrench. I've seen them at Sears and of course SnapOn and such has them.

I agree they are a PITA. As I remember on the drivers side I went thru or over the frame on the drivers side. On the passenger side I was able to reach up there, blindly, and get ahold of it.
