I am checking the market for either an 03 F150 Lariat Crew Cab 4x4 or an 04. It seems that there are not many FX4's out there with this combo. They are out there but just not as many as the regular 4x4's. What exactly does the FX4 include? If it only includes skid plates and shocks how hard would it be to transform a regular 4x4 into an FX4?

The FX4 package gives you different wheels, all terrian tires (not larger), skid plates, decals and Rancho shocks that are valved exactly the same as the shocks on every 4x4 F-150 with a towing package. I really wouldn't be concerned about whether or not the truck had the FX4 package.

 

You list 2 different years with 2 different answers. The 03 is a package that would include the shocks, skid plates, etc. The 04 is a model now that includes similar to previous year packages, different grill, limited slip rear, different interior, and the 5.4 engine.

 

Ya, newer models, 04 and newer had alot more options, but really before that, all there was were plates, shocks, wheels and stickers, now the 5.4 is mandatory, the guages look cooler, the grill is ok, and FX4's now only come in certain colors. My buddy has the same truck you want, but it's funny because typically you associate Lariat with leather, not his but it is 2 tone red and silver with the FX4 pack. It is a Supercrew as well, nice truck.
