this is a repost from another thread.

yea jd fab.
for 4x4 he is working on being able to upgrade the shocks to 3.0's versus the 2.5's that come with the kit.( a 3.0 is about as good as a 2.5 with a hydraulic bump stop. so a 3.0 with A bumpstop = ).also 934 cv's in stead of the 930's. and working on a tie rod up grade similar to the hiem one for the 2x4. the up grade will yield even more travel. 16 inches on a 4x4 is flat out awesome.

for the 4x4 kit right now if you are going to be as hard as me I suggest up grading to cromoly races in the cv's and the longer limit straps. it's only like 30 bucks more.

your front end will most likely cost well over a full 6 inch from fabtech....You get what you pay for, i have a 98 with a fabtech and will be upgrading mine to long travel shortly.....www.dixonbrosracing.com

you simply can not compare a fab tech or any other " lift " to a true long travel suspension. this is not simply a lift, infact you can run it at stock height. the main kit is just front. I set it at about level (lower then most people). this is true hard core. not a kit just for looks.
all together i'm in it about 10 grand for everything. the tires were 500 a pop. with a full size spare on the same rim. but I will settle for nothing but the best.

well these kits pretty much are the deciding factor for me. My next vehicle will most likely be an F150 SCrew 4x4 FX4 with the JD kit, that is assuming my company goes as I hope..haha. I gotta get back into the offroad world and I miss my Jeep too much, My 2wd Tundra doesn't cut it.

desratt, what are you running in the rear? Deavers and kings at stock location? If so whats the travel of the setup? How balanced does it ride in the rough stuff(front to rear) also do you know of any rigs running this setup with a supercharger, if so what kinda axle mods are required? I'd assume gears, 4.10s maybe.

I'm coming from a 4 linked long armed Jeep grand Cherokee on 35"s with only 5" of lift with 4.56s and detroits. I've also helped design and build some of my buddies rangers, so I know what this stuff is about, and I admit I wont use it to its potential(well thats the plan but we know how that works) but I just can't bring myself to even bother with regular lifts, soooo pointless to me.

again, sorry for the questions, just trying to plan for the future. thaks in advance for any help.

PS Great tire choice btw, I think I'd probably end up with MTRs though mainly because of price. I'm guessing 12.50x35"s are the norm with this kit?

actually most are running 37's with this kit. but some on 35's,. I haven't made it to the rear yet but there are several options. deavers with either bolt in kings or through the bed by passes. he is working on some new awesome deavers that go under the axle , and they get so much travel they cut a notch out of the frame for the axle to come up into, re inforcing the already strong as heck frame already of coarse. if you saw a picture of these deavers you would not beleive it they get massive travel in the 20's.

I have only seen 1 or 2 04 and up f-150's linked. and I may try it. and a fuel cell.

axle I run the 3.55 limited slip. with the tranny and 5.4 , my buddys can't believe I didn't loose any power.

I have seen many with the supercharger's I have my eye on the vortec or a roots type.

jd has about 7 trucks in their shop at any one time. they have done tons of variations.
I installed the kit my self though.

Sounds good. If I do pick up an f150 it will go under heavy mods quickly. I would like to keep full bed functioning but their cut through still leaves a lot of bed room so its not out of the question. I've done enough work on my own vehicles that I'd like to lay the responsability on someone else now. I'd have them do the work. Through researching I would go with a Whipple supercharger as well and then a nice A/V setup.

20" rear with 14" up front would be pretty nice. for an all arounder.

That black one with the lightforces on their page is just sexy. I had lightforces on my jeep and will never go to another light company again.

You might enjoy checkin out my Jeep. 4 linked and trussed rear. Suspension pics are on page 2.

it was actually around 25" in the rear with the set up they are working on. now your jeep has some serious articulation.... your from cali so jd isn't far. I trek down to them from eastern nevada. laguna hills? is that near laguna beach or the laguna summit towards el centro from san diego??

Right near Laguna Beach, And going from one TV show to another I'm moving to Newport Beach in a few months. ha. Part of my reasoning for JD and Whipple is that both are in So Cal.

That jeep was my baby, and a beast. Could crawl over and trough anything and could keep up with most of my buddies prerunners in the desert. Pretty well rounded build. Miss that thing, having a stock tundra now is just boring.

If things go like I hope then I will make a trip down to JD to chat with them.

I figure with ~500 hp and 37"s some driveline mods will be required as well.

ive read that anything over 35's on an f150 would probally need heavyduty axle as well as the front end dogbones(sorry its early and there name cant come to me lol) not sure about the newer models like you guys have though, but i know its true for mine(98). the kit i plan to put on mine is just like the one from jd, but for the older model like i have, im gonna go with the through the bed bypass's, i cant wait!
