2004 F-150 XLT 2 1/2" Frt Leveling Kit
2004 F-150 XLT 2 1/2" Frt Leveling Kit
I bought a 2 1/2" front leveling kit. My question is does anyone know if I install this is how many problems will I have with the dealership honoring my factory warranty? I asked the dealership and they said it would void the warranty. The company I bought the kit from said it shouldn't have any affect on the factory warranty (something about the dealership haveing to prove that this mod was what caused the defect). But when the kit got here today there was a paper in the with the kit stating that installing this product may void the warranty and to contact my dealership. I don't know which one to believe. I'm leaning towards the side of common sense in that this kit if installed will void my warranty. But I also hate the fact that my truck isn't level. Anyone with any information on this will be a great help to me. Thanks for your time.
Try a different dealership. If your dealership is saying its going to void waranty, and you do not want to have to pay out of pocket if something goes wrong with the front suspension, then do not put it on.
definelty look at another dealership. we had this problem with my wifes mustang. Not because of mods either simply fixing a warranty item. One dealership wanted to try and make up reasons why it was happening before they brought it in and try and make me do things first. Another Ford dealership 7 miles away just said bring it in a fixed it. They may sell the same product but not all Ford Dealerships are the same. FO SHO
Also what the company that sells the lift is telling you is that the Moss-Magnuson (sp?) Act says they can not simply void your warranty because of aftermarket items added to vehicle. The dealership must prove that the aftermarket item is what caused the problem. Without this act the aftermarket would be much smaller because no one would add anything to their truck because of warranty. I mean if your A/C goes out they can't say the lift caused the problem and void it. Now you have a problem in your front end it would be very easy for the Dealership to claim the leveling kit caused it and you are SOL.
Kind of have to ask yourself what chance you are willing to take.

You can always take it out if the the S#@t hits the fan. I dont think your going to have a catastrophic failure (at least not in your front suspension)requiring the truck to be towed to the dealership.....at least not during warranty period. I leveled mine and wouldnt even mention it if I took it to the dealership, but that's me. Not a good reason to not do what you want, within reason of course. Good luck.
