leveling kit/tire question?

I have a 98 f-150 4x4 offroad with 265/70/17.. What is the largest size tire with and without a leveling kit can fit? Also about how much does a two inch kit like most of you all are running cost? About how much do people charge to install these kits?

Also what tire do you all recommend for a daily driver, that is still a very aggressive mud tire? I want a tire that is way more aggressive than the bfg allterrains that i have now, but one that still get fairly decent milage??

Thanks for the help

I think you are confusing your truck with the 04-06's. You don't need a leveling kit because your ride height is adjustable with your torsion bars. You can run a 35x12.50-17, but that is an extremely tight fit and there will be some rubbing on the frame at full steering lock. I wouldn'd recommend it. I'd go with a 33 inch tire, expecially if you want to go to an aftermarket wheel. A 33x12.50 on a 10 inch wide aftermarket wheel looks great on a stock 4x4.
As for tires, I'd recommend the BFG MT KM, Goodyear MTR or Toyo Open Country MT. The Toyo is supposedly the quietest mud tire available.

thanks wandell, how do I go about adjusting my torsion bars? Wow cant belief I could actually fit a 35/12.50. I think i will go with the 33's though. 33/12.5/17 with a 17.9 or 17x10 rim would prob look the best right?

That's what I would suggest. A 33x12.50 on a 10 inch wide 16,17 or 18 inch wheel would look great.
Just follow each torsion bar back to the adjustment key (cam) and crank up each bolt an equal number of turns. You will need a front end alignment after adjusting the torsion bars.

I have an 03 2wd STX, will I be able to raise the front by adjusting the torsion bars as well?

no 2wd do not have torsion bars that is 4wd only. I am pretty sure the 2wd guys can use a leveling kit that goes on top of your front springs.
