Question tire rub

Wandell, I saw in your picture gallery you had some 16x10 rims with some 285's on there. Did you have to do any trimming on your truck at all without the PA 3" lift? Cause the guys at the tire shop tell me that the tires I want, which are a 285 70x17 will not fit under there on a 17x9 rim which has a 4.5" back spacing, and from everything that I have read ,everyone says they will fit. I know every truck differs slightly, but find it hard to believe they will not fit on my rig. I have plenty of room on my torsion bar adjustment's to crank them up a little.

I had to trim about 1/2 inch of plastic off the lower valance when I was at stock height with 285's on 10 inch wide wheels. They just barely touched the valance. I doubt you will even have to trim with a 9 inch wide wheel. I know what you mean about tire shops. THey can't know everything about every truck. My tire guy told me I couldn't fit anything larger than a 265/75-16. THanks to this site and FTW, I learned you can fit 35's.

Wink

I guess I will have to go down there and just ask the guy to get the tires and rims on there so we can see if they rub or not.
Thanks again.

Even if it does rub, it can be solved by trimming some of the valence or cranking the t-bars.
