Daystar leveling kit question

I installed a Procomp 6" lift this weekend and I have a question about the Daystar leveling kit that I already had on there. I know that I shouldn't have both on there because it's not recommended (not to mention that the front sits higher than the rear). I DID remove the top spacer piece which is about 1". I didn't feel like removing the other 1.5" piece inside the strut assy because I was busy installing the lift components. For those of you who have installed the Daystar leveling kit:

Was there a piece that the inside spacer replaced? I just don't remember. If I take out the spacer inside the strut assembly, does the spring just rest on the underside of the tower when I put it all back together or is there another component that I've forgotten about and may have thrown away?

Thanks.
