Shocks???

I wanna upgrade my shocks. Maybe. Do you all think that it's at all better? (Obviously I'm young, and haven't had the time/money to previously have done this)

If you think that it's better, what kind would you get? Is the installation easy? How much $$$ to upgrade? Time to upgrade (Installation)? Will it void any warranties?

Thanks ahead of time for your input

I installed Pro Comp ES3000's. They ride close to OEM but seem to handle larger bumps better. Installation is very easy. Take a look at yours. It's as simple as removing the top and bottom shock mount bolts and reinstalling them with new shocks.

no special tools needed, just some wrenches and maybe a socket set.

i put Rancho RSX's on my truck. they ride good and cost about $50 each. you need 2 shocks for the rear and 2 for the front.

do a little search here and you'll see what everyone's recommends for shocks. any shock will be better than the factory shock.

Ok, I'm taking a leap that the truck isn't lifted and you are maybe doing mre street driving (based off the "sport" in your name. I know, I could be way off). If that is the case take a long hard look at the Bilstein line. Available through lots of shops and Summit Racing. Best riding (comfort) shock I've had and really helped with keeping the wheels planted to the pavement. I had 'em on my '98 and am getting some for my '06.

Sweet, 'cause, yeah, I do all street driving, and rarely go off pavement. When I do, it's on a dirt road, gravel road, or grass. NEVER mud. (I have a 4x2 with no lift and general use tires...). Yeah, I'll definately look into it. (Once a couple hundred bucks comes in...)
Thanks

There are several shocks that will work well for you:
(in no particular order)
Ranch RSX or RS5000
Bilstein
Monroe
ProComp ES3000

The bilsteins and monroes are probably the best sutied for primarily on-road driving.

I put Bilstiens on my '99 4x4 STX - at 20-35 mph the truck 'wiggles' like jello over every street bump and expansion joint. Above 35 it's smooth as glass, and once you throw it into a curve at speed they hold body roll down very nice. If I were to do it over again, my curiosity quenched by having Bilstiens, I might try Ford OEM shocks but replace them at 20,000 miles instead of 60,000...

Some Bilstien posts...

I've had the Edelbrock Performer IAS shocks on my 98 4X4 for 3-4 years now with no complaints. Great ride on and off road, but they are a little pricey. Lifetime warranty is a plus...
