I have an 04 4x4 with 325x65x18s, 4 inch rancho system and rs9000 shocks. Every since I put on the the bigger tires (I used to have 285/75/17s) the rear end bounces all over the place like it is washboarding. Is there anything I can do or get to calm the rear end down?

Thanks!

Keith

Yeah. I dont think it's a balance issue as it does nicely at speeds. The rear is just really bouncy. I seems like its having a hard time controlling the larger tires. If i go over bumpy terrain and am at a slight turn the rear end will bounce and kick to one side.

Do i need kicker shocks?

what your expierincing is called wheel hop/axle wrap(same thing) which is caused from large lift blocks. to solve this either get bigger leaf packs to replace the blocks or traction bars

This can be one of serveral things, or a combination of several things. In order to narrow it down, we need to know more information. At what speed do you notice this problem, when just stepping on the gas, while driving at at speed, over bumps-large or small? What did you use to lift the vehicle: added block, new leaf springs, add a leaf? If you give us some more information, perhaps we can help you better. Thanks!!!

Looking into axle wrap and wheel hop I found this on 4x4wire.com

"Axle wrap is a problem that plagues leaf sprung vehicles with soft springs, particularly those that are set up SOA (Spring Over Axle). Axle wrap is something different than wheel hop. Wheel hop is when an axle on your 4x4 rapidly hops up and down. Axle wrap is unwanted suspension movement that allows the pinion angle to change. Wheel hop is annoying and could cause drivetrain breakage, but usually it's not the actual hopping that breaks parts, it's the axle wrap that results from the hop that causes drivelines to bind and breaks yokes, drive shafts and sometimes even pinions."

It's at any speeds. The rear end is just really bouncy and over bumps the bouncyness causes the rear end to buck to one side or the other. There is no difference weather I am accelerating or decellerating. Sometimes its so bad that I look over and my passenger seat is shaking really badly.

Its the rancho 4 inch kit so its a rear block.

Thanks!

Good question. They are Nitto Terra Grappler 325x65x18s. Nitto says to run 50psi which is what they are.

Thanks for any more advices.
