New truck????

i have an f150 screw 4x2 lariat and im looking to get a new truck! I want a 2001-03 extended cab 2wd v6 because the gas is alot better. And my payment at the moment is too high!! I found an f150 black, extended cab v6 with 10.5 inch lift and 35 inch tires on eagle alloys for 11500. Do yall think that is a good price??? also i know its lifted really high but will the gas be any better on this truck then what ive got? Im getting like 9 miles to the gallon at the moment! so any help is appreciated!!

9 MPG? What engine do you have?
I dont think I would look at the V6 for gas mileage, look at the 4.6L V8.
And if you want gas mileage, you definitely dont want a huge lift and 35" tires, especially not with the V6, that thing will be struggling to move those big tires.
You'll want to keep the truck fairly stock too, as far as tire size and suspension lifts go.

Yah thats what im thinking! I havee the triton 5.4 v8. Say i get a 4.6 or the 4.2 and i put a 6 inch lift on it with 35's, will the gas mileage be hurt that much???

Well, it depends on how you drive, what kind of tires you get, what axles you have, etc.

If you only drive on the highway, then I wouldnt expect it to hurt mileage too much. If you do alot of in town driving, gas mileage will suffer...

I've got a 4.2 with a 6" suspension lift and 33" tires. I'm getting somewhere around 14 - 15 mpg but I will be able to calculate it better once I get my XCAL2 which will calibrate my speedometer. I'd have to agree that a 4.2 with 35" tires is not going to get better gas milage. Even with 33" tires I am planning to re gear from 3.55 to 4.10 or even 4.56 so my engine and tranny aren't working so hard to get the truck moving.

i have a 00 f150 ext cab v6/5spd. its all stock except for a 3" bodylift and 265/75/16's. i am getting 16mpg on the hwy and 13mpg in the city. i don't think i am doing to bad. tho it could be better. the only thing i can see is either something is wrong with the truck or you drive it with your foot to the floor. <--- not trying to be rude.

got news for you buddy...the gas mileage between the 4.6 and the 5.4 isn't enough to lose what you get with the bigger engine.
