Rear Leaf Spring Squeak

Hi y'all,
I am having some really bad squeaking coming from the rear end of my truck. There are other people that said that they have the same problem and I don't know if there is a way to fix it.

More than likely 1 or more of the teflon spacers between the ends of the springs are worn out allowing metal to metal contact. Thas what was happening to my '99 4X4, went to Ford dealer and got 2 or 3 packs of spacers so I would be ready for the next time it happens. Now if I could just find a cure for the tailgate squeaks!!!!!

You Can Buy The Spacers If You Want, There Not Very Expensive At All. I Work In Automotive And When I See That Problem With Customer's Truck, All I Do Is Use A Prybar To Pry The Leaf Springs Apart Right Where The Second And Third Spring From The Bottom Meet At The End And Squirt Some Tube Grease Or Wheel Bearing Grease In Between. (watch Your Fingers) This Will Stop It For 6 Months Or Less.

Get a can of silicone lube spray, open the tailgate and spray the little black rubber "stops" on each side where the tailgate closes against. I had the same pesky squeak and that fixed it. Also, the silicone spray solved a front end squeak whenever I went over a speed bump.

Heres how I fixed mine, put your truck on a 4-pt lift, or just jack it up by something other than the axle in the rear... leaf spring mounting spots, a hitch...Whatever. When the leaves seperate, use a grease gun and put some thick greade in between them...Problem solved.

I think I too have the spring squeek your all talkin about. As far as the tailgate goes, I bought ford hinge lube, like a corn oil spray or something, they sell it for hinge lube anyway and sprayed into the striker of the tailgate, problem solved.

Just go to your local spring shop and pick some up. I own a spring shop and charge .50 each for them so they should be pretty close to around there. I call them squeak pads or tip inserts.
