front end is riding real rough!

i have an '03 screw 4x4, and just recently the front end feels very rough. i rotated the tires and had them balanced and it rides the same. i've had the torsion bars turned for awhile and the front has rode stiff since then. the tires also sound very loud all of a sudden. it sounds like i have a very aggresive tread, but they are only nitto terra grapplers. the tires are loudest at around 45 - 55 mph. the truck bounces alot during hiway speeds. any suggestions?

Did you get an alignment after you cranked the torsion bars?

I dont know how the tires would sound loud all of a sudden like you are describing...

i did have the front end aligned. i have been searching the forums and found a few things on wheel bearings. it might be that, once in awhile it sounds like the breaks are grinding. i replaced the pads and still have the same noises. at slow turning speeds i can feel a vibration.

It may be cv joint on the 4 wheel drive shaft.

Are the tires cupped? That is the only way they would get louder.

You said it has ridden rough since you cranked the torsion bars. Is that correct? Wouldn't that be the problem?

I only know from my old 84 Toyota truck 2wd. I cranked the torsion bars and it ran rough as heck, but I was cool cause it was higher in the front.

I was young then. Looking cool was more important than being comfortable. Now I'm old and I'd rather be comfortable.

Jack up the front end and check the wheel bearings... Just grab the front tires pull that back and fourth from the sides and top to bottom... If there is some play you will know instantly it is the wheel bearings.

Thumbs up

I had the same thing go wrong with me when I used to own a GMC, I had a leveling kit put in and they cranked the tbars to achieve the level look and two weeks later I was replacing my wheel bearings and the cv bearings, I would look at that first, but I am no expert , I just had a similar thing happen with that truck, but since then I have wised up and bought a ford!!!!
