Body Lift

I have several questions concerning a body lift kit that I want to purchase. I would like to get the suspension lift but I just dont have that kind of $. I am going to buy the 3" inch lift kit for my 89 F150. Is there any brand that is better or are they all the same? Also how in depth is the work needed to put one of these kits in? Time? Experience? and is there anything else I need to purchase to put on the kit? Does anyone know a round about price on having a mechanic do it if its too indepth. I appreciate all the answers I can get. Thank You!

I agree. Get a PA kit. They come with everything you need as well as in depth instructions.

I just completed installing the PA 3" body lift on my 2002, the kit comes with everything. The only two items that had to be extend where the Steering Column and the Gas neck. Both extensions were included in the kit.

not to hijack this thread, but....

How about this body lift kit in conjunction with 2.5" coil spacers and a rear add-a-leaf kit?

On paper, it'd seem like an economical way to get some real good altitude, but are there any potential problems there?

OregonWolf, what about any gaps? Did you have to buy gap guards? How long did it take? Did you have any help or a fancy shop? I don't really have anyone that would be willing to help and my work surface is a sloped dirt driveway. What do you think about it?

I've read of quotes from $100 to $800 to install a body lift. $300 to $500 seems to be about average.

Hmmm so would you recommend just getting the suspension lift considering its expensive just to put on the body lift? Im just attempting to see how much it would be to get a body lift kit now compared to a suspension? I mean i understand suspension will be much more but how much more and would it be worth it to get that as oppose to the body lift because id like to go 6" if i were to get the suspension lift. Thanks everyone

You can install the body lift yourself if you wanted. But even if you take it to a shop, the cost of a suspension lift kit by itself is going to run you at least $1500, plus installation/labor.

Body lifts are a great value, if you can install it yourself.

dont forget to drop your fan shroud. All you have to do is loosen all body bolts take a floor jack and jack one side slide blocks in and install longer bolts, then on to next side.I dont think you will have fuel neck problems on this truck, should stretch enough.
