Question Stock Shocks

I have a 1999 F-150 4.6L 2wd with a 107,000 miles. I am just going around doing maintenance like changing plugs, plug wires, fuel filter etc. I was wanting to know when I should change the shocks. It has the towning package on it but I dont really pull anything heavy just a small boat and maybe a camper every now and then. I do kind of notice some not really vibration but everyonce in a while a kind of shimey. I was curious if I should replace the stock shocks and if so with what kind?

If they are your stock shocks 107,000 your well do for a new set. You put some new shocks on, you will think you are in a caddilac. Shock choices are up to you everyone has there favorites all single charged shocks are pretty much the same. Good Luck

Wow if those the original shocks, I would change them out.

There are several different shocks that are popular around here, with Rancho and Bilstein probably being the most popular.

What kind of driving do you do? I consider the Bilsteins to be best for on-road applications, while the Ranchos are better off-road.

Wow, I agree that you are definitely due for shocks replacement. The popular ones have been Bilstein, Rancho and Edelbrock. I think when you go with the top brands you should not have any problems and definitely will see some improvement in your ride compared to what you have now.

I couldnt agree more. I changed out my originals at 175,000 miles after they got so bad that they tore up my whole frontend. Thought I was in a diffirent truck after that.

I'm with the rest of the crew. They're looooong overdue. OEM shocks are good for 20,000 miles at best. Beyond that, they're barely adequate if they're doing any good at all.
