Rear end question

What is the difference in size from a 1998 F150 rear end comapred to a 1997 and 1999. I am looking for ladder Bars and every listing I find has every year of truck except 1998 listed.

They used 2 different rears, an 8.8" and the 9.75". axle tube OD varies according to which one you have. AFAIK 98 wasn't a special year that had a unique rear axle.

Only the 5.4 equipped trucks get the 9.75" rear end. V6 and the 4.6 get the 8.8" from 1997 to present.
