Exclamation broken torsion bars

i was heading to work when i heard a bang and the entire front left side of the truck dropped. i pulled out the torsion bar and replaced it already. has this happend to any of you befor? the ford dealership looked to be very surprised. im scared the same thing is going to happen on the opposite side when im at a higher speed.

I've read a few post on broken torsion bars. I believe they were all on 98 or 99 year model trucks. Apparantly it was 98's.

It happened to me w/ about 37k miles. It was on the left side, it is a 98 too. I now have 76k and both are still fine. Can't say it will happen to the right, but replace it if you want to be safe. It is usually caused by a manufacturing defect, likely poor shot peening. I'm surprised yours didn't go earlier. That's odd for it to make that many cycles before failure. Sometimes failures of that nature are impossible to predict.

Broke mine today. Right side one a LD F250, certainly not abusing it at the time. 147k miles.

I broke the stock ones in my truck at 98k miles. its a late production 97. Replace both from a 2001 7700....
